Three Islamic short stories for our little ones. May Allah guide them to the straight path.
Islamic Short Story 1: Ali ibn Abi Talib رضي الله عنه – The Brave Defender
Ali ibn Abi Talib رضي الله عنه was a brave and loyal companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He accepted Islam when he was only 10 years old! He grew up loving Allah and His Prophet ﷺ.
Ali was known for his unmatched courage and incredible strength. In the famous Battle of Badr, the very first battle in Islam against the non-believers, he fought with incredible bravery, protecting the Prophet ﷺ and defeating the enemies. His strength and loyalty made him a true hero.
During the Battle of Khaybar, his shield was broken during fighting. Allah gave him the strength to lift the massive door of Khaybar fortress from their hinges with his bare hands! He used the door as a shield instead! He then climbed into a trench and used the door as bridge for the muslims. The doors were so heavy that it took lots of men to put them back in place!
In the Battle of the Trench, when the Muslims were in danger, Ali رضي الله عنه helped dig a trench around the city to protect them. His quick thinking saved the Muslims from harm.
Later, Ali رضي الله عنه became the fourth caliph of the Muslims. He led with fairness and worked to strengthen Islam. He was kind to the poor, generous with his wealth, and loved by everyone.
Ali رضي الله عنه’s story teaches us to be brave, just, and kind to others. He teaches us that if you have incredible strength you can still be gentle and kind to others. He is a true role model for children and adults alike.
Islamic Short Story 2: Uthman ibn Affan رضي الله عنه – The Generous Heart
In the early days of Islam, there was a man named Uthman ibn Affan رضي الله عنه . He was born 7 years after Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He was one of the first people to accept Islam and was known for his wealth and generosity. After becoming Muslim he became even kinder and more generous!
Uthman was one of the few people at the time who knew how to read and write. Yes, this was a unusual skill at the beginning of Islam. He was therefore one of the few people who could write Quran down when
When Muslims needed help, Uthman رضي الله عنه always stepped forward. In Medina, water was scare. The control of the wells was held tightly by a few men. After negotiating with one of these men, he negotiated the price for half a well. He would have control of the well one day, and the other owner the next. Uthman, however, gave the water to the Muslims with no charge! Nobody wanted to pay for water on alternate days! The original owner of the well had no choice but to sell the other half of the well to Uthman! Despite the helplessness of the other man, Uthman was just and paid a fair price for it. He continued to make water free for all and never reminded anyone of his charity and generosity! His heart was full of kindness and love for others.
As a caliph, Uthman رضي الله عنه led the Muslims with wisdom and fairness. He worked hard to preserve the Qur’an and ensure its accurate recitation across the world.
Despite his great wealth, Uthman رضي الله عنه lived a humble and simple life. He showed us that true success and wealth comes from helping others and staying close to Allah.
Islamic Short Story 3: Umar ibn Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه – Foe Becomes Friend
Umar ibn Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه was strong, wise, and fearless. Before Islam, he was known to be powerful, rich and brave but very stubborn! Knowing little about Islam, he troubled the Muslims and did not let them pray in peace!
Before he accepted Islam, Umar was one of the extreme enemies of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and all Muslims! One day, when Umar found that the Prophet and Muslims are gathered in Dar Al-Arqam, he set out with the intention to kill the Prophet. He wanted to relieve Quraysh and restore respect for the gods! On his way, Umar was stopped, however, by Nuaym bin Abdullah, one of the Sahaba, who knew of his intentions. Nuaym told him that Umar’s sister (Fatima) has accepted Islam.
He furiously decided to go to his sister’s house. As soon as he arrived, he heard the recitation of the Quran. Khabbab ibn Al-Aratt was also at their house. His sister quickly hid the Quran pages. Umar who was furious and questioned and struck his sister. He also hit his brother-in-law. “Have you two become Muslim?” he asked. They admitted, “Yes. We are Muslims. We believe in Allah and his Prophet. Do what you please.”
Umar was moved to see that he hurt his sister and asked to see the Quran. When challenged by his worried sister, Umar reassures her he does not want to destroy them, but to read them. Fatima makes him clean up, before handing Umar pages of the Quran (Surah Taha).
Quran changes the heart
As soon as he read the verses, he said: “These words are truly beautiful. Lead me to Muhammad. I want to accept Islam too.” Umar went to meet the Prophet and said to Him: “O Messenger of God, I have come for no reason except to say I believe in God and his Messenger”. Since then, Muslims have became stronger with Umar accepting Islam. For the first time, they were were now able to pray near the Ka’ba.
