السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ

Assalamu Alaykom

I’m Dr. Mohammed Hesham: an NHS doctor, a father, and a native Arabic speaker. Around this site you’ll see me simply as Hesham (H’s Qalam). This page is the story of why Islam Legacy exists.

Where it began

Growing up in the heart of the Middle East, I was surrounded by the stories of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the noble Sahaba (may Allah be pleased with them). They were more than words. They were woven into conversations, teachings and bedtime tales, and everyone seemed to know them by heart. I don’t think I grasped how precious that was back then. The stories were as constant and familiar as the air I breathed.

The drift, and the way back

Life has a way of changing things. When I moved to the UK, I found that these stories, our very own superheroes, were not given the same place, even in masjid gatherings. Then life’s responsibilities took hold. Working long hours as an NHS doctor, I realised how easily the heart drifts from its foundation. Worries of dunya creep in quietly and leave little room for the stories that once lifted us.

This website is my effort to return to those roots: to reconnect with the legacy of our Prophet ﷺ and his Sahaba, and to strengthen my own Imaan one story at a time. The journey is personal, but it is one I want to share with you.

Why stories, and why now

As a father to a curious six-year-old, I feel the need now more than ever to pass these stories down. I want his heart built block by block with Imaan, grounded in the example of real heroes rather than influencers.

I carve out an hour or two around hospital shifts, often late at night or early in the morning, to research and write. It is a small window of time, but it brings me joy. For me this is not just storytelling. It is about nurturing our hearts, remembering who we are, and reconnecting with the strength and beauty of our Deen.

This platform is for parents, young people, seekers of knowledge, and anyone who longs for the comfort of these stories. It is for those of us who get lost in busy life and need to pause, reflect, and realign our hearts with the light of Imaan.

Why I also teach Quranic Arabic

Arabic is my mother tongue, and for years I have taught the Arabic of the Quran to complete beginners and busy professionals: people who, like me, carve their learning out of early mornings and late nights. The stories on this site nourish the heart. The language opens the Book itself. The two belong together.

That is why I built the 28-Day Quranic Arabic Course: a structured, honest path from the alphabet to understanding the surahs you already recite in salah, in 15 to 30 minutes a day, with a 7-day money-back guarantee. No fluency promises. No gimmicks.

A promise: everything on this site, every story, every lesson, every review, is researched, real and honestly presented. That is the standard that comes with teaching anything connected to the Book of Allah.

With warmth and gratitude,
Dr. Mohammed Hesham
