Short Islamic Stories: The Tale of the Strong Camel

In the bustling city of Medina, there was a special camel owned by a group of kind people, the Ansar. Everyone loved the Ansar because they welcomed the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when he made Hijra from Makkah to Medina. The Ansar had a particularly strong camel who was different from all the other camels in town. This camel could work very hard helping farmers plough their fields. He could also carry very heavy loads!
Day after day, the camel toiled under the sun, never complaining or making a fuss. But because he always worked so hard, his owners started to ask him to do even more! “Come on, big guy! We need you to work even harder!”. The camel, being a gentle creature, listened without any fuss. However, the poor camel was feeling exhausted from all the hard work.
The Big Change
One bright morning, something unexpected happened. The camel seemed to have reached his limit! He transformed from a quiet and diligent worker into a fierce animal that no one dared to approach. He stomped his feet and snorted, letting everyone know he was fed up. “No more riding me!” he seemed to say, and he scared everyone away. The people were shocked to see their strong camel behave like this.
They quickly realised they needed the camel for their important work. Without him, their crops would be in danger! In a panic, they decided to seek help from the one person everyone trusted—Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. They hurried to him, explaining the camel’s sudden change. “He’s like a raging monster! We can’t get close, and our plants will suffer!” they pleaded.
A Brave Approach
At first, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ listened carefully and didn’t hesitate. He then asked calmly, “Where is the camel now?”. Despite the warnings from people who were scared for his safety, he walked straight to where the camel was staying.
When the camel spotted him, something extraordinary happened. Instead of charging at the Prophet, the camel rushed forward and began to cry with real tears! It was as though he recognized the kind heart of the Prophet ﷺ. He sat down right in front of him, looking like he was sharing his problems. The Prophet gently patted the camel, understanding that the animal was tired and overwhelmed by all the hard work he had to do.
A New Beginning
With great wisdom, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ spoke to the camel, calming him down. He then turned to the owners and told them to take care of their camel. He told them to feed him well, and don’t make him work too hard. Every creature deserves kindness and respect!
From that day forward, the owners took the Prophet’s advice to heart. They ensured their strong camel was well-fed and not overworked again. The camel happily returned to his duties, and his gentle nature returned as everyone learned to be mindful of his needs.
What did we Learn?
The story of the strong camel teaches us an important lesson about kindness and Rahma (mercy). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ showed us that understanding and taking care of those who work for us is essential. Just like the camel, every creature has feelings and deserves to be treated well. So remember, whether it’s a pet, a friend, or anyone in your life, a little kindness goes a long way!
Short Islamic Stories- The Brave Story of Al-Bara’ Ibn Malik

In the days of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, there lived a courageous man named Al Bara’ Ibn Malik. He was known as a great Sahabi and the brother of Anas Ibn Malik, who was a helper to the Prophet. Al Bara’ was famous for his bravery and strength, and he fought in many battles to protect his people.
Al Bara’ was a hero everyone looked up to; he participated in all the battles alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except for the Battle of Badr. The Prophet ﷺ once said about him, “How many a disheveled, dusty man who others do not pay attention to, if he swore by Allah, Allah would fulfill his oath. Among them is Al Bara’ Ibn Malik.” This showed just how special Al-Bara’ was, and many admired him for his faith and courage!
After the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed away, Al-Bara’ made a big difference in helping the Muslim Ummah achieve many victories. Particularly in the Battle of Yamama!
The Battle of Yamama
One of the most exciting stories about Al Bara’ is from the Battle of Yamama. This battle was fought between the Muslims and a group of people who had turned away from Islam. They were following an evil man named Musailimah the Liar, who claimed to be a prophet after the final Prophet Muhammad ﷺ sent by Allah!
During this battle, Musailimah and his followers hid inside a large gated garden, making it very hard for the Muslim fighters to reach them. But Al Bara’ had a brave idea! He asked his fellow fighters to carry him over a big shield using the tips of their spears! The Muslims agreed to help him, and they tossed him over the garden wall. Into the heart of the enemies’ army he went!
Once inside, Al Bara’ ibn Malik faced Musailimah’s soldiers all by himself! He fought courageously and with all his strength. He pressed forward until he reached the gate of the garden. Despite having more than 80 wounds from battling by himself he still managed to open the gate of the garden from inside so that others could enter!
Because of Al-Bara’s incredible bravery, the Caliph, Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, once wrote to his leaders saying not to put Al-Bara’ in charge of armies because he was such a fierce warrior that he was a dangerous force to reckon with! Umar recognized that his daring nature could lead to overly risky situations if he were responsible for entire armies. He would fight with such fearlessness that he could place himself in danger without hesitation!
The Legacy of Al-Bara’ Ibn Malik
And so, the story of Al Bara’ continues to shine bright, reminding us that real superheroes are not only found in tales. Muslim superheroes exist everywhere. They’re the ones with hearts brave enough to help others. Brave enough to stand up for what is right.
